‘Writers Block’ is a blog for people who love books and reading, but also contains occasional silliness and poetry (and it can be hard to tell the difference sometimes) that I can’t resist posting into the darkness to see if it strikes a spark with anyone.
Just to introduce myself: Kasia James, at your service. I am a writer who has come to suspect that it is my mission to produce a book in every conceivable genre, fulfilling some sort of mad ‘Renaissance woman’ quest.
I am currently working on a collection of speculative fiction short stories, and quite a lot of poetry. Much of the poetry seems to emerge during long train journeys.
My previous published works include ‘The Artemis Effect’, a science fiction novel, which you find out more about in the Reviews section, and
‘The Milk of Female Kindness – an Anthology of Honest Motherhood’, with poetry, fiction, essays and artwork by a collection of fabulously talented women from around the world.
Love the format of your blog and the topics. I will be back!
Thank you! Look forward to chatting. π
may your pen transport you into endless novels and poetry – a new spark on the edge of dawn.

Thanks for your kind words David! Just what I needed today.
Iβve nominated you for the Awesome Blog Content (ABC) Award. Whether or not you choose to accept it, you deserve it. Hereβs the post about it: http://sheilahurst.wordpress.com/2012/03/07/blog-awards-lovely-abc-and-hugs/
Oh my goodness! Thank you so much Sheila! I’m quite blown away. π
Hi Katkasia – thanks for popping over to me blog http://www.intotheorchard.com and commenting and liking my post of sci-fi (or speculative) literature. Cheers Ian
Hi Kasia,
I wanted to let you know I am nominating you for the Heart of Fire Award on my next post. I really enjoy your blog!
Hi Naomi,
Thank you so much! I’m flattered and quite humbled. Look forward to hearing what is required.
If you could see me now, there would just be a big smile filling the webcam. π
Kasia.
You are most welcome, and you deserve acknowledgement for a great blog!
Iβve nominated you for the Kreativ Blogger Award. I know you’ve done a few of these, so really donβt feel like you have to do another one any time soon or ever, I just thought you truly deserved this and wanted to point your site out to others. Hereβs the post on the award: http://sheilahurst.wordpress.com/2012/04/24/blog-awards-versatile-kreativ/
Thank you Sheila! That’s very kind indeed. π
I think I’ll have to post something really worth reading before I tackle this one, but I have something planned I’ve been meaning to do for ages.
Thank you again! Big smiles at this end.
All of your posts are worth reading! Really though – don’t worry about doing it. Just wanted to let you know how much I enjoy your site.
I have nominated you for the One Lovely Blog Award!

Thank you so much! I’m honoured.
Look forward to reading all abou it.
Hello, I’ve nominated you for the One Lovely Blog Award:
http://wantoncreation.wordpress.com/2012/06/27/a-lovely-blog-award/
I’ve nominated you for The Booker Award, which involves listing your top 5 books (which I would be curious to know). π
http://wantoncreation.wordpress.com/2012/07/22/the-booker-award-and-my-top-5-books-of-all-time/
Thanks very much! It’ll be very hard to pick only five I think – what an intriguing challenge. π
Your book sounds great! Are you self-publishing or publishing traditionally?
It’s Indie published. I did look briefly at the option of having it traditionally published, but given the difficulty for a new author to break into an established firm, and the extra degree of control you have as an indie in terms of content, cover design and pricing, it seemed a better way to go!
Glad you like the sound of it! π
In my most recent (9/30) blog post, i nominate you for the Liebster Award, and there are questions for you too. Check it out, and congratulations katkasia π
Thank you! I’m honoured. I’ll check it out. π
Hi Katkasia! I have a question for you. Do you have any interest in taking part in a science fiction anthology that deals with space travel and colonization?
Oh crap! I just realized I already asked you this. Damn I have a terrible memory. Please disregard, and I’m a boob!
Hi Katkasia! I’ve just found your blog! For some reason I didn’t think you had one…not sure what I was doing wrong…but am glad I tried again…now I know!
I just bought your book! Can’t wait to read it!
Thanks for staying in touch!

Oh wonderful! Thank you so much, and I really hope you enjoy it. Just finished the process of uploading everything so I can have hardcopies, so am awaiting the proofs with baited breath.
Would love to know what you think of it! π
Hi Kasia! I’ve nominated you for the Booker Award. Please don’t feel like you have to accept it any time soon (or ever), but I thought this was a fun one because the focus is on favorite books: http://sheilahurst.wordpress.com/2012/11/07/the-booker-award-favorite-books/
nominated you Kasia for the Very Inspiring Blogger Award. check it out at http://zfthrimej.wordpress.com/2013/01/18/nominated-for-the-very-inspiring-blogger-award-part-2-of-this-is-the-part-where-i-nominate-other-bloggers-for-this-award/
Thank you! I’m honoured that you should think of me. I promise that I will do this one, just as soon as I can think of seven even vaguely interesting things about me…:)
Hi Kat,
Nice blog, how would you like to see a blog set up to promote New (to me) Authors and their books?
Call over and have a look at mine and if you like it enough, I’d be delighted if you became a follower π
The professor sends his greetings from the PL! How are you?
Good thanks! That’s an interesting blog you have there…:)
Very Punchyish, I think!
Hi Kat, thanks for finding and following my Spanish blog. Did you find my writing blog too at http://www.sandradanby.com/
Good luck with your book! SD
Thanks – what a terrific blog you have there! Looking forward to reading more. π
Hi Kasia,

Enjoy!

No way! Khaalidah Muhammed-Ali, one of the contributors to TMOFK, is a friend of mine.
I know! She’s lovely, and a very bright and interesting person. I found her when you invited me to join your sci-fi Anthology through Goodreads. Small world eh?
I’ll say! If I recall, I remember you saying sci-fi was not your bag. That still true?
No, sci-fi is still very much my bag. Time is just at a huge premium! How are things going with the Anthology? Do you still need contributors, or is it filling out nicely?
Oh yeah, Mrs. Artemis Effect! Must have forgotten about your qualifications π Things are going well, but there are still spots that need filling. And they require people who know a thing or two about the genre…
Not sure I can put my hand up to be any kind of expert. But let me know what spaces there are! If they’re not for me for some reason, I know a few other people who might be interested. π
Maybe email me directly at kasia_oz(at)hotmail(dot)com
